Calling all blossoms! Check out this bright and luscious cowl, exclusive from Irina Poludnenko. Another wonder of texture, this project for advanced knitters uses Stacy Charles delicious Willow. So lovely, you’ll have to make two so you can see it and wear it at the same time: one for you and one for the blossom in your life. Willow is 49% wool, 46% cashmere, 144 yards/132.5 meters per 1.75-ounce/50-gram skein. Gauge 5.5 stitches per inch on US #7 circular 24# long needles. The kit includes 2 balls of Willow in colorway #985, plus the pattern for the cowl, whose finished size is 24” x 14”. Russian-born Maria specializes in combining different knitting techniques and a range of materials, and has developed a method of making seamless pieces on a flatbed sewing machine, which she presented at the Israeli Weizmann Institute of Science. A graduate of Shenkar College of Engineering and Design in Israel, Maria teaches textile design. Her work was featured in the 2012 CHA Fashion Show’s Lion Brand Gallery; inspired by the forests and architecture of Russia, she created a fanciful series of unconventional knitted garments.
