Calling all blossoms! Check out this bright and luscious cowl, exclusive from Irina Poludnenko. Another wonder of texture, this project for advanced knitters uses Stacy Charles delicious Willow. So lovely, you’ll have to make two so you can see it and wear it at the same time: one for you and one for the blossom in your life. Willow is 49% wool, 46% cashmere, 144 yards/132.5 meters per 1.75-ounce/50-gram skein. Gauge 5.5 stitches per inch on US #7 circular 24# long needles. The kit includes 2 balls of Willow in colorway #985, plus the pattern for the cowl, whose finished size is 24” x 14”. Nile Scarf

Behold, Irina Poludnenko’s glamorous Nile Scarf. Artyarns created this Nile kit exclusively for us, with Silk Rhapsody Glitter Light and Beaded Silk and Sequins, for diagonal ripples undulating in a river of Egyptian blue. A project for all knitters, the Nile Scarf is done side to side and measures 11.5” x 59”. Silk Rhapsody Glitter is 80% silk, 20% mohair with metallic, 260 yards/238 meters per 100-gram skein, and Beaded Silk and Sequins is 100% silk with glass beads and sequins, 110 yards/100 meters per 50-gram skein. Needles are US #9 (5.5 mm) 32” long circular; gauge 3.5 stitches per inch, 6 rows per inch in garter stitch. Wrap yourself in mystery. Bon voyage!

This exclusive pattern for The Yarn Company uses 6 balls of Malabrigo Merino Worsted in Broadway Blues---our dramatic exclusive colorway, a plush blue/purple, the color of the theater before the show starts . . . Yow! A celebration of texture, to be expected form a design by Maria Zverin. Malabrigo’s Merino Worsted is 100% merino wool has 210 yards per 3.5 oz, and the project uses US # 10.5 needles. Gauge 10 st and 20 rows per 4 inches. A project for advanced knitters.

Russian-born Maria specializes in combining different knitting techniques and a range of materials, and has developed a method of making seamless pieces on a flatbed sewing machine, which she presented at the Israeli Weizmann Institute of Science. A graduate of Shenkar College of Engineering and Design in Israel, Maria teaches textile design. Her work was featured in the 2012 CHA Fashion Show’s Lion Brand Gallery; inspired by the forests and architecture of Russia, she created a fanciful series of unconventional knitted garments.
